Editorial Policy

This page explains how Penny List Today researches, builds and updates its penny lists and shopping guides.

Where our information comes from

Penny items and hidden clearance are never advertised by stores. Our information comes from public reports shared by shoppers, well-known deal communities and store information that anyone can check, such as the prices shown in store apps.

How we build each list

  1. We collect reports from several public sources each week.
  2. We only list an item when at least two sources agree on it.
  3. We record facts only: the store, item name, size and barcode number. We don’t copy other sites’ text or photos.
  4. We sort items by store and category so they’re quick to find.
  5. We mark the date each list was updated.

How often we update

Dollar General prices change on Tuesdays, so we aim to update its list early each week. Other stores don’t follow a fixed schedule, so we update them as new reports come in. Old items are removed from current lists when they expire.

When sources disagree

Sometimes reliable sources say different things, for example about whether a store must sell a penny item. When that happens, we say so plainly in our guides instead of picking the answer that sounds best.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, email contact@stardewvalleymods.org with the store, item and barcode. We check every correction and update the page as soon as we can.

Independence

No store pays us, reviews our content or approves our lists. Advertising keeps the site free, but advertisers have no influence over what we publish. Read our Disclaimer for more.

Our reminder to every reader

A list is a guide, not a guarantee. Prices vary by store. Scan before you buy, and be kind to store staff.
